Harrogate Rugby Club is sad to announce that Allen Tattersfield, one of the true stalwarts of the club, sadly, died from a stroke on Monday 25th February 2019. The amount of time and energy Allen gave to Harrogate Rugby Club is immeasurable. From 1985 until 1995 he was the club secretary, from 1995 to 1998 Club Chairman and President from 2008 to 2010. Throughout his time with the club he travelled thousands of miles to support the 1st Team. In the 1987/1988 season he was one of the founder members of the Touchline Internationals.
For his service to Harrogate Rugby Club, Allen was awarded the President’s Trophy, which was presented by Roy Guy at the club dinner 17th February 2005.
Away from rugby Allen was a volunteer at St. Wilfrid’s Church in Harrogate and at Ripon Cathedral.
Allen’s funeral will take place at 1pm on Wednesday 20th March. The service will be at St Wilfrid’s Church, Duchy Road, Harrogate HG1 2EY. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after the service.
