Rodney was a club member in the late 1960s and was Chairman of the Special Efforts Committee for the 1971/1972 season.
One of the events he helped to organise was the hugely popular Donkey Derby.
He donated one of the bricks for the building of the clubhouse extension at Claro Road in 1971 and his initials R.D.W. can still be seen on one of the the bricks which were transferred to Rudding Lane.
After moving away from Harrogate in the 1970s he would return every year to attend the Former Players Lunch and appears on a photograph for the Former Players Lunch on 11th March 1978.
