Working with the club and the Wooden Spoons Charity 18 young people came together from the two school and enjoyed rugby coaching from Jake and invited guest Professional Rugby Player Richard Beck from Yorkshire Carnegie. Val French School Games Organiser of the SportsSpecial School Sports Partnership said " It was a fantastic day of skills coaching and small sided games mixing the two schools together and we were so honoured to meet Richard who had taken time out for these young people before Yorkshire Carnegies big game that night against London Irish. What great role models both Jake and Richard are for these young people. I would like to thank them ,Harrogate RUFC and Wooden Spoons Charity for putting on this event and making us all so welcome and we hope to make this an annual event to inspire our young people to get active and be more involved in sport and physical activity."
The day concluded with 'Spoony' the Wooden Spoon mascot making an appearance and all the young people receiving medals of participation from Jake .
Stuart Watson, Chairman of Wooden Spoon Yorkshire region, said “ Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. This tag rugby special schools tournament has given these children a great day out having fun whilst learning about teamwork.
