Georgians power to victory over Foresters
The Georgians recorded a superb and rare victory against a strong Wharfedale side on a chilly day at Rudding Lane.
The two sides have been amongst the top second sides in the North for some time and have served up some classic encounters in recent years.
After an even start a turnover for the Foresters led to quick ball and with the defensive line biting in too quickly giving Dale an easy but well executed inside ball to score under the posts and an early 0 v 7 lead.
The Georgians then stepped up the pressure and with strong carrying led from the front by Harvey, Heaton constantly gaining significant yardage and starting to exert control in all areas of the pitch.
A flowing move following some strong carrying created space for Ninja to score and level the scores with George banging over the extras.
Not to be outdone young Connor Miller scored another trademark try again with the extras added and a further penalty saw the lead extend to 17 v 7
Dale then enjoyed a period of pressure, squeezing the scrums, winning some penalties and battering away only to be met by awesome defense
Matt Lansdall hit a great line to split open the Dale defense and a lead of 24 v 7 only for Dale to respond with a well worked try to reduce the arrears 24 v 12.
The next 25 mins was all Georgians, mixing power and pace with adept moves creating a try for Tim Heaton and teo penalties from the boot of George Hampson to extend the lead to 35 v 12
With 5 minutes to play a penalty into the corner followed by a perfectly executed catch and drive saw Jonno at the base to score and extend the lead to a comprehensive 42 v 12 lead.
Dale showed the determination and desire to keep battling, which is what you expect from the best sides and scoring two late tries earned a deserved bonus point and a final score of 42 v 24
