After last weeks encouraging win Harrogate Colts were knocked back by a strong Middlesbrough outfit. Helped by a strong wind the away side started strongly and within minutes were awarded a penalty under the posts which Joe Rowntree converted. Five minutes later Middlesbrough gave away another penalty and once again Joe Rowntree slotted home from 45 yards out. Disappointingly this was to be Harrogate's last points of the match as the home side began to take control. Middlesbrough's heavier pack began to dominate proceedings gaining field position through strong runs close to the breakdown. They then used their skillful midfield runners to break through for the first try of the match. Harrogate held out until close to half time but a planned move from a scrum close to Harrogate's line led to a second try making the score 12-6 at half time.
Playing into the wind the Harrogate players fought hard to stay in the match but two further tries took the game out of reach. Several times the Harrogate players secured good field position pushing hard for a consolation try, but Middlesbrough's defence held out to make the final score 24-6.
