The new Saxons XV saw some experienced players combine with young aspiring players in an RFU sponsored game organised in conjunction with Alex Grieve the RFU local development officer.

The team was skippered by Phil Wickham and with the likes of Dickie Davies, Grahame Tasker, James Moreland, Danny Cooke, Rich Bland and Euan Miller in attendance the young players like Jack Starkey, Hugo Tasker, Curtis Hannakin & Connor Miller had a solid platform in which to become accustomed to senior rugby at a decent standard.

Four well taken tries with three conversions gave the Saxons a healthy 26 v 0 lead before two late tries for Otley narrowed the gap.

This is what will be the first of many fixtures combining social, developing and experienced players in competitive rugby, thanks to Alex for the RFU involvement and all players for giving their all in a good game.
