Harrogate Ladies II showing great improvements as the first half of the season comes to a close

Chester started strong and put their first 5 points past the home side early on. An attempt at a try was held up by centre, Evie Hancox before a try came off the back of a powerful driving maul. 0-5 to Chester.

After the restart Chester ran some excellent lines into the Harrogate defence, though they struggled to penetrate. A scrum was won by the visitors though on the Harrogate 5m line and Chester were in for a second. 0-12.

After a loose ball, Harrogate managed to recover. Centre, Caroline Cockshott got her hands on the ball and made her way up the pitch at pace. Though she was held up on the try line by the Chester defence, Fly half Bethan Owen was there in support and went over to score.

Harrogate 5-12 Chester.

After the restart Harrogate showed real skill with runs from Caitlin Bate and Cockshott, the Chester defence splintered off as they made headway.

Chester were almost through but Captain, Sarah Jayne Prtichard was there to put the try saving tackle in. Scrum half, Sophie Wilson picked up the loose ball and stepped on the gas. She made it up to half way, making the offload in the tackle before a Harrogate knock on.

Though Chester were playing the phases in attack, Harrogate were laying on immense pressure, forcing Chester to be camped in their own half.

Soon after the second half started, Chester scored their third try making it 5-19. Harrogate however kept Chester well at bay after this point, proving to be the dominant team at times. Chester's strength and accuracy in attack showed through though and the final score was 5-19.

Player of the match performances were awarded to Ruth Fewster-Neale, Sophie Wilson and Caroline Cockshott. Harrogate ladies II take on Oldham away on Sunday before their winter break.
