Harrogate Ladies II play their socks off to take an away win from Oldham

Harrogate Ladies II made their mark on the game within the first 10 minutes as scrum half Izzy Harris showed off her fancy feet, running rings around the defence. She off loaded to Number 8 Apolline Cahiere in the tackle who crossed the whitewash, scoring the first 5 points of the game.

It didn’t take long for Harrogate to be back in Oldham’s 22 in the form of winger, Caitlin Bate. The ball was ripped though and before long Oldham were on the attack again. Captain Sarah Jayne Pritchard picked up the lost Oldham ball though and jumped into action.

This allowed Harris to get her hands on the ball again, scoring the second of the match, 0-10.

Kirstie Plummer made an early exit after an ankle injury making way for team manager, Sarah Macleod to make her season’s debut.

It wasn’t long before it all got a bit too much for Oldham and a yellow card is offered to their captain and they were down to 14 players for 11 minutes.

They manage to score their first try of the match during this time though, even with a player disadvantage, 5-10.

Oldham give away a penalty for a nasty hand off and allow Harrogate the opportunity to score in the form of fly half, Bethan Owens.

Next up, after a great receive from Helena Dudhill, Gaby Wilson was on the rampage on her debut, causing Oldham all kinds of problems before the half time whistle blew.

The second half kicked off well with Oldham pinned in their own 22 by a solid Harrogate defence.

Winger, Ellen Armstrong takes advantage of a penalty won for a high tackle and sprints down the wing before scoring to make it 5-25 to Harrogate.

Oldham replied with a try of their own though soon after. They add an excellent conversion to make it 12-25.

Harrogate kept up the intensity though and captain, Sarah Jayne Pritchard scored in the corner, bringing the score to 12-30.

Macleod made two try saving tackles on her own, before Oldham manage to score another try, 17-30.
In the last play of the game Harris managed to score her second from a pick and go off the back of the ruck.

The final score was 17-35 to Harrogate Ladies II. The Ladies have a break until the New Year when they are back in action against West Park Leeds Ladies II on January 5th, at home.
