Harrogate Ladies lose in their final match of the season

Harrogate Ladies were at home for their final match after a tough first season in the league.
Bishop Auckland came to Harrogate also looking for the win, after their last meeting ended on a draw both sides were keen to show that they were stronger.

From the moment of kick off Harrogate dominated. For nearly all the first half Harrogate kept Bishop in their own half, but Bishop was strong in defense and stopping every attempt made on the try line. But with the continuing push, Harrogate pulled in a try, quickly followed by a second. With a good lead, Harrogate needed to keep tight and defense strong. But just before half time Bishop made a break through the line and got their first points on the board. Bishop played hard with ball in hand, getting some strong runs, and they dominated in the scrums, but Harrogate never gave in.

Into the second half and both teams were tiring. Mistakes were being made on both sides with a penalty against Harrogate to Bishop. and a late try to pull ahead by a single point Harrogate had to dig deep with little time left on the clock to get it back. After a few good breaks from Harrogate topped just short, Harrogate were back deep in their own half, with the last play set, Bishop kicked the ball out to take the game. Leading to a final core of 19-20 to the visitors.

After a hard start to the season, Harrogate showed mass improvement as time went on. New to the league and with many players only just taking up the sport, each player should be proud of how well they have done. To get through this season with some wins, some draws and losses, that will go into the new season and develop that drive to do even better.
