It was therefore not surprising that Harrogate toiled hard but they made their own lives more difficult by missing numerous tackles to let the generally larger Driffield players gain territory unnecessarily.
Callum Irvine, playing as outside centre, scored the first try in the corner and successfully added the two points.
Driffield responded before Irvine scored a near identical try to make the half time score 5 - 12.
Both sides seemed sluggish in the second half. Cameron Roberts once again showed some fine individual skills to score Harrogate's third try.
Driffield were determined and tenacious and scored their second try.
As both sides tired the game opened and both sides enjoyed good territorial positions.
Towards the end of the match Driffield were putting the Harrogate under line under sustained pressure.
The match finished in a 10 - 17 victory for Harrogate.
There were notable performances from the consistently good Irvine and Roberts and also from Rory Ashman.
The coach's man of the match was captain George Wilton who once again led by example.
