They won their opening game against Penrith by 22 - 5. Harrogate opened the scoring when George Hobson crossed the line. Shortly after half time Penrith levelled the score before George Wilton ran 50 metres down the wing to score between the posts. Hobson added the conversion and thereafter both Hobson and Wilton each scored their second tries.
The hardest game was the second match against a powerful and well drilled Rhuthun on tour from North Wales. Each side scored a single try, Hobson crossing the line for the home team, but crucially the visitors added their extras and, unusually, were successful in charging down the Harrogate conversion attempt. Overall it was a finely balanced match between two strong sides and it was always likely that the winner of this match would win the festival for this age group as did indeed prove to be the case.
In the last game Harrogate succumbed to Bradford and Bingley by 7 - 12 after a slow start and looking dispirited after the defeat to Rhuthun. Cameron Roberts scored 'Gate's try with Hobson adding the two points.
On the day there were notable performances by Hobson, Wilton, Roberts, Hal Butler and Sam Croft.
