Having been spoiled by some rather pleasant autumn weather in recent weeks, the first really cold Sunday of the season came as a bit of a shock to the players, coaches and supporters alike. To their great credit, 20 of the squad trained very hard at Harrogate High school in some very cold, muddy and misty conditions. We specifically focused on tackling and rucking as we served to build on the knowledge and experience gained in recent weeks from a series of competitive fixtures. We then finished with some friendly 5v5 fixtures which gave an immediate opportunity for the boys to put in place their new knowledge of rucking and mauling! It would be fair to say, that there is still some work to do before these new skills could be considered to be second nature; however, each week, great progress is being made. It is also very reassuring to see that some of the lads who were new to rugby at the start of this season are really starting to find their feet in all aspects of the game and are being well supported by some of the more experienced ones. Special mentions to Harry V and Ben I for some excellent individual performances.
Training again next week where we shall continue with rucking and do some scrum/line-out work.
