The build up as massive and the main event didn't disappoint.
Goole got straight down to business fielding their 2 streamed teams with an A team on Pitch 1 and B team on Pitch 2. Harrogate's selection process saw them put together 3 teams of mixed ability.
This meant in the first game our side was caught napping as Goole quickly went 2 ahead with some clever passing play. The boys took this personally and with committed performances from all members of the squad pulled back to 2 all by half time.
The second half was hugely contested with Goole continuing to play their fluid passing style of rugby and Harrogate delivering crushing impacts in both attack and defence. Harrogate took the lead by willing the ball over the line from the maul before Goole equalised with a clever scissor play that left Harrogate static. After another try from Goole it came down to the final play of the game. Harrogate wasn't going down without a fight and moved forward with purpose and intent. A try was scored but disallowed leaving Goole the victors but Harrogate with nothing to be ashamed of.
Goole may have taken home the win from the first game but with 3 further wins from Harrogate and 2 drawn games the honours have to go to 3 mixed Harrogate sides who took on one of the strongest side in the area and of the morning won.
