U10 Moortown Festival report

Huge improvements at the first festival of the year,!!
From a very poor timid start the boys really improved. The new rules at the breakdown, had been forgotten and no rucking or even tackling was taking place in the first 2 or 3 matches. A lucky win in the third match was soon followed by a very physical encounter and a lot of missed tackles against Moortown. Another stern talking to by Danny and a reminder of how they could play resulted in a very spirited performance and a tight 1-0 win against Rotherham. A fantastic team performance including a tackle on their boy mountain, who was finally felled by Fraser. Luke holding on for dear life as another of their big players trundled through the middle and try machine Rory C finished the win off.
The final game in a very long day showed a superior fitness, which must have been down to the recent appointment of Dave the S&C coach, led to a 5-0 win over Morley. The team were so good as a whole, substitutes were brought on after halftime to congratulate performances, rather than help iron out mistakes. Elliott and Lewis improving their tackling, ably supported by the two Olis were like the Black Night from Monty Python's Holy Grail!!
Thank you to Moortown for hosting a very enjoyable festival and their coach who was the stand out referee of the last few seasons, clearly managing the breakdown and having a match debrief to help identify points to the players. If only he had let us win that game!
A well deserved trophy has been proudly displayed round the team, making more school visits than the Brownlee brothers!
