Fun in the sun

After removing some rugby posts (what are they for?), the whole squad was able to play on three pitches against an equally large York squad.

A characteristic slow start from Team Jacob and a lot of basic passing errors led to three tight matches, just edged by Harrogate. The hard battling Jacob B, Jacob O and Tom supported by a hugely committed Rory PS's running and rucking kept Harrogate in the matches. 'Jake' and Oli Q were learning fast on the job and finally Luke and Elliot joined the party by the third match.
We fought more within the team to be the player to be passed to than with the opposition and in turn most of our mistakes were from our own restart!
Feedback from the other pitches was equally frustrating performances from some of the squad. However, as a whole the squad is making great progress with the new rules and we can expect strong performances when we host the Yorkshire U10 World Cup next weekend.
BBQ, drinks and sweets will be available for all 20 teams, including our first matches against Huddersfield RUFC.

As the match reports are heavily one sided from what i have seen, going forward we are going to elect parents to write the reports.
Hopefully they will be able to look at all pitches and give an all round view or they will be even worse and only focused on their own child!!
