Christmas hangover for the U10's!

Harrogate U10's first match of 2017 was away to Thirsk. It was a cold and foggy morning.
With what looked to be at first, must of been a Christmas Hangover. Harrogate were second best in all departments, tackling, rucking, passing and catching. But they were flashes of inspiration that the coach's could hold on too. Joe seemed to be the only Harrogate player along with Freddie who had remembered how to play rugby with some outstanding rucking and ball steals. It wasn't all negative in the first half though with John P & Oliver S doing some great running with the ball causing the Thirsk team some real problems. The half time interval couldn't come soon enough for Harrogate. Enter the second half, after a few encouraging words from the coach's Harrogate seemed to come back a completely different side. John P yet again continued his great runs with the ball and setting up a try for Freddie who took the glory! Harrogate's tackling improved somewhat during the second half and so with it did there passing. The tries were coming in thick and fast for Harrogate who had a much improved second half but Thirsk were still proving to be a more than worthy opponent. On a narrow pitch it was hard for Harrogate to get any width which they found hard to deal with. The second half was very much improved, with Joe, Freddie and John all putting in great performances. All in all, an average performance for Harrogate.
John P was awarded Harrogate's man of the match, not only for his performance today, but also for displaying the key attibutes of rugby TREDS.
In particular his willingness to help others in his team, as well as the opposition at Wetherby.

On another positive, things can only get better and Harrogate are themselves becoming a formidable force in the U10's world of rugby!
