THE TRUE SPIRIT OF RUGBY!!

With a squad of 37 we only had 6 players available for a saturday festival fixture, possibly due to the incredibly muddy conditions last year and a fixture the next day.
However, showing the true spirit of rugby as a sport, Ripon came up trumps providing the remainder of the squad to travel to Darlington MP!! Not only were they willing to play for their arch rivals (albeit they wore their Ripon shirts under the loaned Harrogate shirts), when Newcastle Gosforth could only field 7 players, the Harrogate players followed Ripon's example and played for Gosforth.

The mixed squad soon gelled together to create a very strong team. 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, not that Jade was counting!
Wins - Gosforth 6-0, Mowden White 4-2, Darlington 5-0, Yarm 5-0.
Draw - Mowden Blue 2-2 and a narrow loss to Westoe Dragons 0-2 was a very respectable series of results for a scratch team.
But it wasn't about the results it was about the enjoyment of playing rugby.

Honourable mentions to all players. It is easy to forget in the professional era and in adult sport, that sport is really about having fun with your mates and making more friends on the way.
