Harrogate ultimately well beaten by an Otley side that showed some great running, support and off-loading, however, the team kept effort levels up and kept competing.
The first half was more of an even match, after which experimentation and injury led to Harrogate struggling to keep a defensive shape. On the positive side the set scrums and line outs functioned well considering it was the first time we had done any set pieces this season, and the whole team did their fair share of tackling against a side with some very large and gifted runners who were comfortable with the hand off.
Many thanks to the boys and parents for their patience and tolerance: this early game shows us a lot about the players and a lot about what we need to coach at the same time.
