so all credit to the coaches of both sides for organising this unscheduled meeting so that the squad members could gain valuable match time.
The last encounter saw Harrogate’s U-14’s take a comfortable win on the road beating a strong Middlesbrough side by 42 points to 7 with Max Simmons scoring 4 tries while the previous outing saw Will Harrison save the day by scoring a hat trick to level the game 24-24 at full time.
This weekend, Middlesbrough travelled to Claro Road and it was Harry Parrish who crossed the whitewash for his hat trick from centre instead of his usual position as wing.
Harry opened the scoring with a lovely side step solo effort to touch down under the posts leaving a straightforward conversion to be slotted by Will Clough.
‘Gate’s forwards dominated and kept possession until Max Simmons, running a good angle, took a ball at pace and touched down for Cloughie’s much improved kicking this season to bag another conversion.
The first half closed at 24 – 0 following another try from Harry Parrish and one from Nick Gilbert.
The Middlesbrough Coach’s half time talk worked as the visitors seized the initiative and started to work their way back into this match with tries from Jack McTiernan and Matthew Robinson with an extra pair of points from Ewan Tremlett.
A kick from hand from the midfield into the visitors’ 22 saw Harry Parrish chase down his third try of the afternoon and virtually end the fight back from Borough.
‘Gate returned to dominant possession and finished with tries from Nick Gilbert and Will Harrison while Cloughie bagged another brace of conversions.
Lots of positives for the ‘Gate coaches to take away from that match.
