Led by stand in captain, Damian Broadhurst, Harrogate powered to an impressive win against Sheffield Tigers in what was a fast flowing game enjoyed by a sizeable crowd at Claro Road.
Both teams were playing below strength teams, with Harrogate missing 6 players to the North Yorkshire squad and Sheffield missing 5 players to the South Yorkshire squad. This didn't hold the teams back though and in an impressive performance out wide, Bruno Horacio sealed a hat trick in only his third game for Harrogate and loose head Tom Hay matched that in the forwards in spite of playing with a badly injured foot.
Harrogate had an all round excellent performance by every player on the pitch against a spirited and forwards-led Sheffield team who put up stiff resistance to no avail. No chance today to pick out a man of the match as each player was outstanding in his position. Congratulations to Sheffield too for providing a good game, but today was not to be theirs as the Harrogate players were in a determined mood, possibly with distant dreams of a tasty Cozens pie in the future.
