The Georgians had too much power and pace for a game York side running in 7 tries on a day when the backs showed their skills and with some great rugby all round

The Georgians played some superb rugby and scored some wonderful tries in an entertaining game played in a good spirit.

James Armiger opened the scoring after his long clearance kick pushed play almost into the York 22 a clever steal of the York lineout by Callum Cardwell saw the ball spun wide and a smart in and out ball saw "Ninja" cross the whitewash and with Luke Riddell adding the extras an early 7 v 0 lead.

York replied with a penalty to reduce the arrears to 7 v 3 following and offside decision.

With the Georgian scrum working well and causing York problems on their put in and with the lineout working well it gave Rob Johnson, Matt Brougham, Liam Hucknall, Chris Wilson and Callum Cardwell the opportunity to carry strongly and Uran Jelija, Matt Harris and Tom Young too always looking to get their hands on the ball and make hard yards.

Matt Lansdall scored the second try again the linking with forwards and backs and finishing off a great move with a smart interchange with Alex Nesbitt. 12 v 3

The next try would have graced any rugby field in the world, Ninjas counter attacking break from over 70m out supported by Danny Cooke and Alex Nesbitt on hand to take the scoring pass to go under the posts 19 v 3.

If that was class then the next try was equally as good with forwards turning over the ball the ball being moved right then back left at pace and Cookie going round the outside man for a 50m break and a well timed inside pass to Paddy Hebblethwaite on hand to go under the posts and a 26 v 3 lead at half time.

Changes at half time saw Rory Caldwell replace Rob Johnson and Dorian replace Danny Cooke and almost straight away Dorian fielded a clearance kick beat the first man and linked with Matt Lansdall who got almost to the line before feeding Luke Riddell to go under the posts for a superb score 33 v 3.

Connor Miller who had replaced the combative Matt Wood was on hand to score a really well worked team try, forwards and backs combining really well before creating space out wide and Connor taking the opportunity like a veteran 38 v 3.

The last try was scored by Luke Riddell after smart work by Paddy Hebblethwaite and a superb grubber kick through was gathered by Luke and a healthy 45 v 3 lead.

Tom Young had to go off injured and the game went uncontested which actually helped York, as did some decisions which gave them an attacking platform and after nine phases they scored with a series of drives 45 v 8

A harsh looking penalty decision again gave them an attacking option and to their great credit forced their way over for the last score of the game on the final whistle. 45 v 15

Good performance, room for improvement for sure but some really solid performances up front and the back line showing a real cutting edge.
