Fifty minutes in this was game on but in the end power and pace out wide saw the Georgians ease to a hard earned victory.

An early penalty set up an attacking platform and from the lineout the ball was switched with Danny Cooke to open the scoring with Paddy adding the extras 7 v 0

From the kick off the Georgians made what was to become a spate of elementary errors gifting York easy possession and after several phases they scored a superb try to level the scores 7 v 7

Fair to say that York were edging the forward battle and an attacking move saw Fraser Kitching charge down a kick and Matt Lansdall make a 70m break to feed Cookie to go over for his second try 14 v 7

Gareth Bass then scored two tries, one a well worked team move and the second a wonderful solo try from 70m out and a 26 v 7 lead only to see York hit back and reduce the arrears to 26 v 14.

York had their tails up and reduced the arrears further after half time to 26 v 19.

The Georgians then started to play the sort of rugby they expect, the errors in the first half dried up and possession was maintained, and Gaz Bass scored his hat trick try to extend the lead to 31 v 19.

Matt Lansdall capped a fine performance to score, taking a sublime line and an offload from Liam Hucknall and 35 v 19.

Sam Tunnicliffe was on hand to score out wide after a series of flowing moves 41 v 19

MOM Oscar Atkinson then threw a 20 m pass to put Sam into space and a great try and 46 v 19.

The game ended with a trademark charge by Rich Bland and five phases later he took a pass stepped two defenders and went over out wide for a great try.

Make no mistake York made us work hard, they were good in the set piece and combative at the breakdown, the scoreline was in the end somewhat flattering, it was really only the last quarter when the Georgians superior fitness, power and pace out wide really took it's toll.

Good game and lots of good rugby from both sides.
