Late call off's and having to send a player off to Sheffield Tigers at the last minute disrupted the lead up to the game however despite a freezing cold day and strong wind the threes ran in 8 tries in an entertaining game against a committed and decent Selby side that never stopped trying and made Harrogate work hard for 80+ mins.
In the final analysis it was the backs that created all the headlines with 8 well worked tries Tom Brennan opening the scoring after 5 minutes after some enterprising counter attacking.
Fordy then suffered a broken leg and thanks to Selby for loaning us a hooker to enable the game to continue with contested scrums, and whilst the backs grabbed all the glory the youthful pack expertly marshalled by Jonno secured plenty of ball from which the back line always looked dangerous.
After the opening try Tim Tombling scored a brace as did Ben Hardy and Will Stevenson and Elliot Lewis finishing off in style, Tim Tombling managed to slot a magnificent 7 out of 8 conversions on a day where the wind played havoc.
Man of the match Rory Cardwell just shaded it from Will Stevenson whose barnstorming running often had the Selby defence in trouble, Rory along with 5 other forwards under 20 years of age won plenty of ball against an experienced and well drilled Selby pack.
