Drop outs, call ups and late changes meant that the Saxons were short of players just before kick off and York sportingly lent a couple of players in order to get the game played.
York were into an early lead with a couple of well taken scores before Matt Duncombe got the Saxons onto the scoreboard York edged into a 17 v 7 lead deep into the first half.
The Saxons are building nicely and have great spirit, Connor Miller showed his class and pace with two well taken tries (one of which he added the extras) and one of the York players added a fourth with Matt Duncombe adding a couple of conversions and a 26 v 17 lead.
Oscar Atkinson almost added another try with a searing 30m break only to be adjudged not to have grounded the ball properly.
Some good rugby from both sides and sporting gesture from York to get 28 lads a game.
