.....as the well drilled York based team played some enterprising rugby.
On a damp Saturday, the Thirds didn’t get off to the best start as the greasy ball was put down from the kick-off. However, soon after they played through a number of phases and the experienced 10 Phillips broke the Nestle defensive line and stepped his way through for a try close by the posts.
It wasn't long before, the home team were back in the game and following repeated drives on the Harrogate line, they eventually powered over to level up the scores.
Almost immediately Harrogate hit back and after some great work by experienced Lock Roberts – Open Side Elacott danced his way through the York defenders on a 30 meter run to the line.
Further scores followed and the Thirds reached half time well in command.
The introduction of the bench only adding to Harrogate’s strike power and Stevenson scored the pick of the second half tries with a mazy kick return run from deep inside his half.
As the hardworking York team eventually tired, Harrogate began to cut loose and further scores followed from the likes of flyer Halpin and Myers.
There were some great contributions from the young players coming through the ranks at Harrogate, particularly Lister who played with great maturity, but also– Joe & Tom Hay, Broadhurst, Young, Lovatt, Clough, Elacott and Finn made telling contributions.
