Good way to round up 2023

Driffield v Harrogate

12 - 40

After weeks of postponed matches due to frozen or water logged pitches Harrogate made their way to the east of the county to play Driffield. The sun was shinning and a bit of a breeze perfect conditions.

Driffield KO to Harrogate and immediate put the visitors under pressure in their 22. However after turning over the ball Capt Charlie Goode broke through the Driffield defence and open the score for Harrogate. Straight from the KO Driffield used their pack to great effect and after several pick and goes Driffield prop, Fiona Percy went over and with the successful conversation there scores were all level 7-7 with 10 minutes into the game.

Harrogate then got into their groove with notching up three further tries (Adaoha Akwiwu x2 Lillie Keith) in the first half with Jaydn Plummer having 100% accuracy from the kicking T. With a try bonus point obtained at the 40 minute mark Harrogate went into half time 7 - 28 in front.
The second half started as the first ended Adaoha Akwiwu going over for her third try of the afternoon stretching Harrogate lead to 7 - 35. The game then move into a period of stalemate with neither team able to capitalise on territory or possession.

With the clock at 70 minutes Harrogate broke down the right with Jo Bastain going in at the corner, the conversion attempt just falling short from Jaydn Plummer.

Driffield continued to battle right up to the very end and their endeavours were rewarded again reverting to their strength in the forwards again going over with the clock into the red. The conversion missed leaving the final score 12 - 40.

A great way to round up 2023 and say farewell to Sav you returns to her native Canada after finishing her Master Degree at Leeds.
Of particular note were performances from Back of the Match: Georgia Briggs, Forward of the Match: Savannah Leroux and Opposition player of the Match: Adaoha Akwiwu.

First cap appearances awarded to Amy Rees, Jo Bastian and Lauren Ryland.

Thats it for 2023 but the team KO 2024 on the 7th January away to Sefton.
