Not only was this the first game for all our 6 year olds it was also the first 'competitive' game for the coaches. Despite Danny's army training he had to remember that it was the taking part and enjoyment that is the most important factor.
To that end we all got involved refereeing (game coaching!) and kids had a great time playing. Harrogate were as organised as could be expected with the experienced ex-stingrays showing the way, being supported by the new players, to create an effective sharks team.
However, we had not catered for Fergus, who following his grandmas team warm up proceeded to run our teams ragged.
Ripon certainly looked the part in their matching kit and this was reiterated by their organised and more decisive play.
Thanks to all refs including Nathan and Dave from Ripon, lets hope the kit turns up soon!
