The Coaches insistence for a passing game was completely ignored at first!
However, the weeks of muddy evasive training, followed by indoor passing skills not forgetting the high intensity fitness drills, paid off! Passes started to go to hand and defensive lines appeared to straighten and although scores were not being recorded Harrogate appeared to have a clear advantage overall. Although Ripon's standout player, fergus, from our seasons first game still ran in try after try, he was not as clearly ahead of the pack as before.
Feedback from all the coaches highlighted our teams ability to pass, especially from Ed who having missed a couple of weeks noticed the difference most. Difficult to highlight an individual moment when refereeing on one pitch, there were a number of tries scored where all players were involved in the build up on all pitches.
The best try on pitch 1 started by Isaac passing to Barney then to Alex and finished by Luke with a characteristic air horn celebration!!
Still room for a lot of improvement in defence, which we can look at this weekend at training at Claro Road, weather as ever permitting!!
Apologies to Goole this weekend as we have had to cancel due to lack of travelling players.
