U7s at Ripon and Moortown festival

26 children made the journey to one of our closest fixtures, to kick off the 2014/15 season and to put in to practice some of the basic aspects that we have been working on in the first few weeks. Whilst I wasn’t there to witness the matches – all the coaches (and the admin team….!) commented on how well the children did in both attack and defence.

With so many matches going on, 12 in total, it’s not appropriate at this stage of the season to single out any players – but by winning all the 12 games the Harrogate Hyenas, Harriers, Hawks, Hurricanes and Hippos, certainly laid down their marker for the season ahead!!

Excellent support play, committed tagging and determined running contributed to the success of the morning and the fact that the tries were spread around the players shows that the team aspect of the game is being appreciated.

Thanks to Simon (1), Simon (2) and Bryan for their coaching, refereeing and organisation of the morning and to Ripon for hosting.

Moortown Festival

Myself and Nigel had the pleasure of managing ten outstanding u7's at the Moortown RUFC festival. With BBQ's, raffles, bouncy castles and cakes the day was sure going to be fun....oh and there was some rugby too!

The squad was split into two teams:
Team 1: Freddie Ashworth, Max Bradshaw, Nico Jones, Alfie Rowell and James Wood. Team one made it all the way to the semi finals where they were beaten by Moortown on an extra time 'Golden Try'. Team one showed great commitment, skill and teamwork. Congratulations to Max Bradshaw who scored 15 tries in the three matches!

Team 2: Willem Atton-Ashill, Edward Brown, Harrison Brown, Magnus Chisholm and Charlie Jones.
Team two played some brilliant rugby with the highlight being the victory over Wetherby in a high scoring encounter.

Both the teams were a credit to Harrogate RUFC. A special mention must go to the parents for their support.

The 2014/2015 season is going to be a great year
