Harrogate win tight game!

Today we showed a lot of courage and charisma to battle with a decent side. The backs thought and fought well with great lines of running however the pendulum didn't go into effect, so when kicks were kicked over the top, Harry was the only one back taking the tackle on his own without support. Tackling was decent, hardly anyone dropped tackles, but we didn't use blitz or drift defence on them. Going forward and whipping the ball out wide was effective but against better sides it won't also be the key in scoring. However my 2 tries came effective in winning the match.

Ok, so we accept that this report was tilted in favour of the backs! So here's some thoughts from Gerry to even it up..

Hull proved difficult to break through in the midfield despite repeated tries by our strong running centres, Hull tackled well.Sam Considine tackled well and broke the gain line. they were a big pack, however our scrums were more than a match, didn't lose one and managed to get 2 or 3 against the head. Hull where a problem in the midfield and put in some big tackles which meant that any breakdown was closely contested, we needed to get the ball out wide and quickly from the breakdown, which when we did worked to our advantage. We hit them quickly at both sides of the interval which took the wind out of them, but they came back and this was a hard game for Harrogate U15's and a well contested YC 2nd round match which was useful for Harrogate in that it tested their defence and never say die attitude.

Overall well done to the full squad, great tries from Tom and Ben, Ben converted two of them, A big test and you came out winning in the end, well done to Sam C for a well deserved man of the match...cheers Jono...
