Harrogate U-15 squad’s Yorkshire Cup hopes of reaching the finals for the fourth consecutive year were dashed today in the penultimate round at Castle Park by a superior Doncaster side.
Having reached the final for the last three years, Harrogate’s Yorkshire Cup route to the semis included wins over Old Brods, Guisborough and Malton & Norton. Sadly, this season’s campaign ended on Sunday.
The home side ran up 30 points before the interval including a Tom Hughes hat trick, a try from Rory Kynman and a penalty, a try and a conversion from Joe Shakespeare.
‘Gate rallied with a try from Harry Parrish and the extras from Will Clough just before half time.
After the break, Doncaster saw Tom Hughes, Lewis Starbuck and Josh Whelan notch up the points to close out the match at 45 - 7.
Good luck to Doncaster in the finals.
