Improved performance but lots to work on

Some great rugby was played by both sides, but it was a game of two halves. Morley started the strongest (or we started as our usual slow selves!) and they scored some early (and easy) tries, mainly due to poor tackling from us (again!). It may be because we have a number of boys out with injuries and colds (and a few who just didn't turn up!), but we improved our structure and commitment as the game went on - we drew the second half 12-12 and it was credit to boys and the subs who came on that we stuck to our task and got stuck in, even though we were clearly tired. Our scrum was much improved in the second half and the front row performance for the full 60 minutes was very impressive, so well done to Joe, Jack Yates and Jack Link. The line out worked well in the first half, but didn't really function in the second half, which was probably due to the wind, but something we need to keep practicing. Olly and Paul led from the front as usual and it was a brilliant athletic performance from Paul, who deservedly scored two great tries. Facundo, George B and Tom Bowden were strong in the loose and tackling was consistently good from Archie and Jonny. Alex and George P played well on the wings and Alex was solid at scrum half when we changed things around a bit in the second half. All in all a much better performance than last Sunday, but still plenty to work on as a team.

It's the Yorkshire cup match against Sheffield at home next Sunday, so we'll need to step up even further for that match and focus on making our tackles, maintaining our structure in the back line and keeping the pressure on the opposition
