Closing out 2011

With the festive season high on peoples minds Harrogate U15s visited Doncaster RUFC to close out 2011. With nine first choice players unavailable the squad the game was nearly not played as many around Yorkshire fell foul of the weather.

A late inspection by the referee deemed the pitch playable for a delayed kick-off. With the cold and the makeshift team making playing constructive rugby difficult the game ebbed and flowed as each team seemed to be able to move down the pitch to score yet undable to tackle on the cold hard, and hardening, pitch.

Although Doncaster took the early lead Harrogate managed to stem the flow of the home teasm attacks but it was not until Luke Gair came on that Harrogate sprang into action. With two scores in the game Gair brought the visitors back into the game.

Both teams then traded scores and closed the game out equal on tries but Doncasters more consistent accuracy with the boot meant they took the honours with more conversions.

After excellent post match catering and a quick chat with the Doncaster coaches Harrogate departed Castle Park to close down for Christmas and to enjoy the festive season.

Lets hope not too many chocolates are eaten over the festive season or training in 2012 will hurt a little.
