Happy New Year
We have some exciting news for members and are pleased to announce progress from the Trustees in securing funding of circa £1.6m specifically for capital works relating to improvements to the clubhouse, grounds and facilities to support the long-term sustainability of HRUFC.
The charity arm of the club has received the funding and has locked this up for 12 months until the end of 2026 while design and planning permissions are sought, and a detailed cost plan and construction programme is developed.
Club Chairman, Mark Garrett, said, "Since moving to Rudding Lane, the committee's priority has been to secure the long-term future of the club and ensure there is always somewhere to play rugby in Harrogate for everyone passionate about the game, regardless of age, ability or gender. Through the hard work of a small group of members, we have successfully reduced debt, secured the club's freehold, and established a charity. Without those actions, this money would not have been secured. Now that it is in place, we can focus on our mission to provide Rugby for All in our local community for many years to come."
We are at an early stage in developing ideas and need to ensure the money is spent wisely to increase the underlying income to the club, and will keep members involved and informed during 2026 of proposals as these are progressed.
