At 9am I was pretty convinced that we weren’t going to manage to play as we only had 11 available, and was about to call Guisborough to concede. Then realised that the Under 16s were training at the club without a game and perhaps we could borrow a couple of them… So I went along to the club and, after a bit of nervous hesitation, 7 of them volunteered to play.
What a great decision that was. The U16s gelled into the team really well and contributed beyond all expectations. 7 tries and 6 conversions later, Harrogate ended up winning 47-5
This certainly bodes well for next season, and illustrates what can be achieved with a bit of co-operation.
