Through the mist and fog, 20 Harrogate warriors emerged...

Harrogate Hippos

Again it was a pleasure to spend time with, and coach five of our u7's, the Hippos! We played three matches against some very strong Pocklington sides.

The Harrogate side passed the ball brilliantly. The highlight of the match was a try that included ten consecutive passes. That moment in play showed what the u7's is all about; teamwork, skill and commitment.

The five payers, Harry, Max, Alfie, Calvin and Joel were a credit to Harrogate Rugby Club, who all agreed that the Rugby was good; but the food at the clubhouse was better!

Ryan

Harrogate Hyenas

The collective ability of the Hyenas to find space and gaps with speed meant they won 2 games and narrowly lost their third despite a varied interpretation of touch, tag and diving for tries on the day!! The boys ran with great pace and awareness and their tag rush defence in some cases was brilliant. Poor Will never quite stayed on his feet within the try scoring area, and could have otherwise had a hat full of scores, but he kept running hard and his time will come. Toby, Charlie and Cormac had great fleet of foot and Robert’s defence and strong running blew some of the Pock team away. Great fun and spirit from the boys and a really promising start to the season, minimal errors in ball handling, passing going behind and to their team mates, and side splitting attacks - an outstanding team effort and many smiles too.

Bryan

Harrogate Hurricanes

The Hurricanes blew Pock apart – winning all three games in determined style. Pick of the try scorers were Freddie and Jack who swooped on dropped balls, reacted well to the game scenarios and between scored a bag load of impressive tries. Billy ran himself to a stitch with fierce tagging and a determined pressing defensive effort, whilst Charlie helped himself to some good tries with excellent support work and a length of the pitch beauty!! Seb showed power in attack and wonderfully crafted hip movement to avoid all potential taggers in a unique matador style!! Overall a splendid display by all 5 boys and some great support on the touchline –including the ever-present supply of snacks and constant lace tying!!

Harrogate Hornets

The Hornets were buzzing in the Pocklington fog on Sunday, when they played their second fixture of the season. Ollie, Robbie, Luke, Alex, and Hugo all worked really well together to produce two cracking victories in their first two games. Some excellent evasive running skills by the famous five, produced some scintillating tries including eleven in the second game. The great wall of Harrogate was solid and the "hungry hands" motto, worked a treat as Pocklington found tags taken left right and centre as we defended!

By the third game tiredness and distraction had definitely set in and we were beaten by some strong runners in the Pocklington team.

Well done to all involved - you gave of your best and had lots fun!

Simon
